Question Another Grey Tree Frog question!

Ok I recently (last friday) got another grey tree frog... Merry is wild caught... like my other 2 were.... how long before I can/should put Merry in with the others?

Merry is eating (already from forceps), pooping, bathing, moving around.

    Lots of opinions wanted =D

I have read 30 days... and did wait this long before putting Sam in with Frodo. But if this is not necessary I'm sure Merry would prefer a full sized terrarium over a large cricket keeper for the next 3 weeks.

But I do want to play it safe...

If the frog is eating & pooping that is a good sign of health. You could take some droppings to have them examined for parasites. If your frog doesn't have parasites, doesn't seem to be acting weird, and has clear skin & eyes it's probably safe to put it with the others.

Might be best to wait for others' advice before taking mine :P

I don't think we have any vets where I live that take froggies (I called around awhile ago)... closest one I am aware of is over an hour away in the city :/ ... and I don't drive there on my own... its as scary as NY lol

In which case I'd say just keep your frog in quaratine for the recommended month, observe the droppings closely. You want them to be a solid shape, not runny. Use a tooth pick to look through a couple of fresh droppings with a magnifying glass to check for worms. This is a gross step, but can be very important.

Feed your frog daily to see if it will gain weight. If you're feeding it often but it never gains weight or gets skinnier you could have a potential problem. If you feed daily they will go to the bathroom daily, make sure of this and spot clean frequently.

I would play it safe just to make sure. 30 days peace of mind much better than a life time of regret.

ok I found a vet that might be able to do it but its $45 dollars alone for the fecal test to be sent away... and $75 to see the frog... aparently I cant have it tested without bringing in the frog :/ Sounds retarded and WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY too expensive... thats more than I pay for 3 days of daycare for my daughter.

    Yeah, that seems excessively expensive.
