I hate working with filters and water features and such, so I want to do a terrestrial tank for my fire belly toads. I want to do a tank with full land, planted, and just a medium to large water bowl in there. Would FBT's like this just as much as a half and half tank, or should I go the other route?
How large of a bowl are considering? I have my 29 gal tank set up 60% land, with a stream and 40% water. FBT's love water, but they are terrestrial. Read Frog Forum - Fire-Bellied Toad Care and Breeding - Bombina orientalis and relatives in the care sheet section. It will give you a very detailed explanation on how to care for the FBT.

I used to have a large water bowl in my tank and they loved it but I got tired of spilling water every day when I changed it. Its much easier with a divided tank.
You could do it with a large water bowl. its just easier to have a split tank. you dont have to change it every day like you would a bowl
