Hey guys.
While closing up some exhibits yesterday at the Zoo I work at, I came across a Marine Toad[Cane Toad].
I was going to give him to my boss, but he told me they would just Euthanize him, because we have no need for him. We already have 3 Bufo Marinus on exhibit for children to learn about what pollution does to the environment. The Toads each have a deformity, the most severe of which is that one is missing an eye.
So anyway, I brought him home, because I couldn't go home, knowing he'd be dead in the next couple of hours...
I set-up a super basic tank for him right now, but am slowly working on beefing it up .
[Sorry, these pics were taken on my iPod, so not the best quality]
Trevor in his water-bowl
His tank. It's kinda small, but it'll have to do for now, until I can get a bigger one. He's only about 5-5.5inches.
The humidity and heat and all that is taken care of, thanks to my island's constant temperatures/weather . [65F at night and 75-85F during the day, with slight variations here and there]
He's eating Crickets and adult Cockroaches. I want to try mealworms, but we're still developing our Culture to make it bigger[at the Zoo].
very cool you did a good thing
