I'd say your best bet is to move the frogs' set-up far out of the room for a nice long stretch while you spray and then air it out again before putting it back.

(I have always said, though, that if I ever lived in NYC again, I'd have Tokays on the loose to eat the inevitable roaches. Not the safest plan, but man, do I HATE roaches.)
Yeah thanks. I had thought of that but was hoping for an option that involves less effort. If there is nothing safe I'm thinking a net curtain and a fly swat.
Gecko sounds like fun but I think my cats and dog would make dinner of it!
    Thanks anyway

Don't underestimate the geckos-my female regularly gives challenges when she sees one of my 3 cats sitting on top of her tank!! Welcome to the Forum. I have to admit, I have no idea what a whistling tree frog looks like, but I hope you post pictures so I can see. And JCLEE-I have about 20 baby hissing cockroaches above my t.v.....would you like one?? Believe it or not, I don't like them either but these guys are my one (and only) exception.

Hi Jace, I just upgraded my Whistlers to a bigger terrarium so they are currently hiding at the back behind a stone. Being nocturnal and the size of a fingernail it's a bit hard to get a snap of them but I'll try once they are more comfortable. In the mean time I have found a good example picture on google, here is also a pic of one of my big ones (hardly big, but enormous compared to the whistlers!), - not so good quality as it's a still taken using the camcorder.
Also my avatar is a whistling tree frog too - not one of mine though.
    Thanks

Those whistlers are gorgeous! Love 'em! Keep loading up pictures.

And Jace, I'm ok with the hissing roaches... on most days... They're just different-looking-enough... it's those darn little roaches and waterbugs/palmetto bugs -- whatever you want to call those massive monsters -- that drive me mad. When you live on the first floor of a NYC apartment building, there is no such thing as clean enough to be "roach free." (Shudder.) Oh, boy, do I have stories...

Wow, I didn't realize whistling tree frogs were so small! Amazing little guys that's for sure. Thanks for showing me. I can't wait to see some pics of yours and the setup they are in. Are they vocal like their name suggests?

JCLEE-I can't even imagine seeing a NYC cockroach coming at me. I think I would run screaming and never look back.
