I dont know what an osh is. I was looking to buy a roll of it. I guess i dont really need a whole roll though. Only gonna use it for a 29gallon and a few 10s for now... guess i will have to look at a home depot or something and see if they will cut it.

I don't use screen. I use filter fabric. A 3M product but sold in fish stores. Comes rolled up in long plastic bag...I forget the name.

There is a fabric called tulle. (fabric stores etc). It is about $5 for a yard ( 54 or 60" wide)

    Tulle Fabric

Most is 100% . ( polyester is what you want to use ) It is available in different weights for sewing costumes and lots of different colors. You can double it up, use the sewing to create a big pocket ( like a pillow case) for the hydro layer. So...when changing substrate, you can lift the entire pocket and not have to scoop out the hydro.. The entire pocket of hydro can be rinsed. One could experiment by purchasing a small pc from the remnant bin first! When creating the pocket, leave a small opening on one end to fill with w/hydro then close it by hand sewing this opening.

A little handmade pocket of tulle also works really well to hold substrate around the roots of plants that are planted directly into substrate. Like a mesh pot.

AND great for moss starter! A single layer makes a great backing for the moss to grow through. Maintaining the moss in the viv is the tricky part!

I use landscape fabric, the kind you can lay down in gardens to suppress weed growth. It comes in cloth or plasticy forms. Home depot has a 3ftx50ft roll on their Canadian website for $7.49, Easy Gardener | Landscape Fabric 3 Ft. x 50 Ft. | Home Depot Canada, and that will go a looong way in a vivarium. Some garden centers will sell it by the yard, and I've seen smaller bundles turn up at dollar stores as well. I find it much easier to work with compared to the window screening as it folds nicely around corners.
