    Hi Martin,

    Thank You !
Not sure if you have followed, or if you remember. After tons and tons of research, conversations with breeders and researchers by profession,
(at leading US universities) there was really never a conclusive decision made as to “needing” to move the A. moraletii from the enclosure it shared w/ the red eye tree frogs for nearly 2 years.

I moved this adult A. moreletii (her… at the time) in March into it’s own enclosure. It was a converted 40 gallon critter keeper. Shortly thereafter he, sadly, stopped eating. Nothing!!!!! except for what I forced fed …..for 7 long weeks. Believe it , or not. HE made ! He had to be treated w/ 2 different antibiotics and a de-wormer. He actually did not look horrible through-out all of this with the exception of a little weight loss. It was very difficult to take care of him throughout all of this.

(long thread- start at the end !)

I have since put the converted critter keeper aside ( the sliding door drove me crazy w/ the way the tank was situated on my rack ) and have had him in an exo 24” wide x 36” high. After I moved him into the new exo….. I heard calls! This frog is >2 years old! I was so surprised, I had to search for my purchase records thinking I got dates confused. So, she became a he! ……..and is doing really, really well. I’m assuming he is happy now ! He is calling ,and put all his weight back on. Finally!

I stuck with my plan to get moreletii froglets. I purchased 3 form Michael Novy, and received 4 ( ? a Novy surprise) on May 23. They are still in a nursery and are doing well. I think it will be another month, or so, before I can put them together?

So……… did I have to move him, or not? In retrospect, I say YES without a doubt. ???? Toxins ??? maybe, NO ONE had an answer for me. My observations prove to me there ARE different needs between these 2 species I was never able to notice when he lived with the red eyes. They like it a little cooler and a little more humid then the red eyes. They are much more secretive. This species is most definitely more vocal and more active at dawn when compared to the red eyes. Plus the proof is in the pudding. I have a happy, calling frog that eats like a little piggy.
