My first froggy =( Isn't eating!
So I am new to the forum, and needed help with my pacman frog. I got a pacman frog around two weeks ago from the White Plains reptile show. He is an albino but has some green in him. When I brought him home I set him up in a 10 gallon with a warm side. I mist his tank daily to make is humid. I first tried to feed him some small crickets... he didn't eat one and seemed uninterested. Next I tried meal worms which he doesn't seem to eat either. He looks a little skinny to me. I'm really scared and don't want to lose my first frog. Any suggestions?

So I just inspected him and the small area on the left side of his body (his left) seems to be almost "hard" and looks to be purple underneath... please help him.

You are seeing his guts through his skin. That is the bluish purple you see through the creamy belly. What are his Temps and humidity levels? Are you using de-chlorinating water? Do you have a water dish for him?Originally Posted by Kanas

He has a water dish, bottled water. I don't know the temps/humidity. I am using a heating pad by exo terra. And yes you can sea the purple.

Also answer these http://www.frogforum.net/pacman-frog...enclosure.html I can tell you what is part of his eating problem is the size of his home. Its too large for a baby or juvenile. A medium to large critter keeper with a hermit Crab UTH(Under Tank Heater) on the side is what you need.

Grif I had him in a nano, but the issue was I couldn't get a heat pad small enough. so now he is in a 10 gallon.

Did you also saturate his substrate with bottled water? You should treat the bottled water with a de-chlorinating agent because it normally still contains chlorine which is poison to the frog and will harm it over a short time. Only pure natural spring water doesn't have to be treated, but I would anyway just in case. I find de-chlorinated tap water works best.

Not in my local pet store. I may just have to order it. Save the tank for when he gets bigger. I felt like he needed to be warm fast so I moved him.

You'll need that smaller enclosure with the UTH quick. Only handle the frog when necessary. These are look, but don't touch type pets so limit handling. Cover 3 sides of the 10 gallon with some sort of background so the frog feels more secure. The UTH alone will not be able to warm the enclosure enough unless its farely warm in your home. Keep the frog away from A/C vents. Drafts can be very harmful. You must get a temp gauge and a hygrometer so you can know what temp and humidity level is within the enclosure. They should be placed on the back wall dead center of it 1" to 1 1/2" above the substrate for a good average climate reading. To help hold heat and humidity cover 3/4 of the screen top with Saran Wrap.
Do the same things I've said here to the smaller enclosure once you get it set up. Temp needs to be 80° to 82° during the day and 75° to 79° At night, but hover around 78°. Humidity should be 80%.

Almost two weeks. I will order the stuff right now. What do you recommend I feed him/her, besides rodents? What should I do about lighting?

Post pics of your frog. No frog under 2.5" in length should be Fed rodents and once they reach adequate size feed small rodents and no more than once a month or so. Pinkies are the easiest to offer and the frog can digest them easier. Night Crawlers, crickets, or dubia roaches should be the staple foods. No mealworms or superworms. Their exoskeleton is made of a chitin that is difficult to digest and can cause impaction(severe constipation) which can lead to death. Treats should be small pinky mice, Hornworms, Silkworms, Samurai Pacman Food.
Feeding too many rodents can cause obesity, blindness, and overall health decline so offer them sparingly. The same goes for feeder fish.
Lighting if you want it depends on what kind of Pacman you have. What kind is yours?

You can only use infrared bulbs for Albinos due to them being extra sensitive to bright lights. Buy a Fluker's 5.5" Clamp Lamp with dimmer. When buying the infrared bulb go no higher than 50 watts and no lower than 25 watts. Please note that lights will dry out the enclosure and lower humidity so you will need to mist more often, but you can buy a Zoo Med Reptifogger and hook it up to a timer to kick on and off throughout the day to maintain humidity levels.

How old is this pic? The photo shows that there appears to have food or something in its stomach. You can clearly see the bulge on the left side.

I just took it, that bulge was the problem I was talking about. So two weeks ago the seller told me the frog ate the night before. Is that where the stomach is located?

You should prepare a bath of Luke warm de-chlorinated water no deeper than half the height of your frog or up to his chin with 3 drops of honey dissolved in the bath. This will provide an energy boost as well as help him poop if he needs to.
