My pixie frog won't eat anything. I just got her a week and a half ago and she tried go eat once but bit the tongs and it scared her. Now she won't even look at the food. She just turns around and acts like I am not even there. I don't know what to do, I soaked her in pedialite for 15 minutes today.. I tried mice (frozen) and earth worms. She is losing some weight and I want to know what else to try. please help me
Its a good idea to try other foods. If she bit the tongs its pixel is she hurt her mouth. You should use rubber tipped tongs. Pyxies like Pacman Frogs are aggressive when it comes to food. Keep an eye on her. If she doesn't start eating soon you may have to force feed.
Have you tried just letting Crickets run around in her tank?
Pixies aren't very picky eaters when they're young... But yours may be a bit different. What are the conditions of the enclosure? Exo-Terra makes a good pair of rubber tipped tongs for like, $10.
My adult female pixie will eat almost anything BUT nightcrawlers and anything larger than a fuzzy (don't feed her nice very often, maybe once every 3 months, if that)
I am going to get her some crickets soon. How would you force feed her with out getting bit?
Provide your care conditions :
- Substrate ?
- Temperature on substrate during the day ? (Must be between 77F annd 89.6F)
- Humidity level ?
- Do you have some hidding parts for her ? Wood barks ? Plants ? It is important for a Pyxie frog to have hidding parst to reduce stress.
Normally, young pyxie frogs are eating and eating and eating again...
I agree with grab if you can get us the info asked it will make it easier to help

I had to take down her lamp and heat because we are moving and she started acting funky then. So I asked the vet and she Is hibernating from what they told me she is about 2 years old so they said she will be okay. And that once I get her cage re set up she will come back out and start eating again but when she does she will be very hungry and eat a few big mice. I hope they are right. I will keep you updated
Whats the temp in the tank? Please, we need more info also, one thing to try, is roaches, my frogs go crazy when I give those to them.
It's about 80 degrees right now and where would I get Roaches?
