For about three weeks now I have been nursing a sick baby White's tree frog. I have tried to find out what is wrong, and emailed every vet I could find. She isn't eating, I have just had to put crickets in and hope she eats. She doesn't leave the ground, and is getting horribly thin and always a dark brown. Every now and then a series of random green spots will appear. She won't even open her eyes.
So, this will sound absolutely awful, but I think she is suffering, and I was wondering if there was a way I could put her down. Please don't think less of me, I just think she is suffering and I don't know what to do.
You can feed her and soak her in a pedialyte solution of 1:10 luke warm dechlorinated water to plain clear pedialyte. Soak her for 15 minutes. To feed her, moisten a paper towel with dechlor water, gently pick her up with the paper towel. Have your dusted cricket ready. I pull the head and legs off. Then carefully open her mouth with the edge of your pointer finger nail and slide the cricket in about 3/4 in. She should take it. I had to feed my babies when they were sick.![]()

I would go with what Heather said. It shouldnt be hard to force feed. Make sure its the UNFLAVORED pedialyte and its 10 parts water to 1 part pedialyte. With the soak, and a cricket, you should see a difference.
Have you tried emailing Dr Frye? He has always gotten back to me. If you are scared to force feed, there are some good tutorials on youtube that show you how. I wouldnt put the frog down just yet. If you think its suffering, a good cricket and pedialyte soak will surely help with that and maybe it will end up living a full healthy life.
I have tried emailing Dr. Frye before, about a minor issue, and he got back to me immediately. I haven't tried emailing him yet. Where can I get pedialyte? I just tried to force feed, but she kept spitting them up. I didn't mean to go straight to the idea of putting her down, I am just new to this and at a total loss. Thank you both for the help. I will email Dr. Frye now and get back to you with what he said.
Pedialyte can be purchased at any grocery store or store like Walmart or Kmart.

mine spit it out if i didnt get it deep enough. try using something thin and small. i used a credit card but some others recommend not using it because they think its too hard and rough... i didnt have a problem at all using a credit card. and its much easier with 2 people. once i got the cricket in there i pushed it further back with the credit card. you can use a baby spoon or plastic spoon. anything along the lines of that should work. not sure where to get unflavored pedialyte. i would just check random stores (walmart, food market stores, etc)
That's a great idea Blue.
