Not really. Frogs stress easily from being handled too often. I only handle for cleaning, mostly.

It is frowned upon to consistently handle your frogs due to stress being very detrimental to their health. It is advised that they only be handled as when necessary and that your hands be washed thoroughly with a very mild cleanser before handling so their very sensitive skin is not harmed. Also be sure your hands are wet with de-chlorinated water.

I handle mine only when I get them out for a soak or cleaning their tank. If they need to be force Fed of course requires frequent handling, but is necessary for ill frogs. To reduce handling and stress I photograph my frogs when they are gotten out for their soak. Killing 2 birds with one stone so to speak. A soak once a week or 2 weeks is fine and this amount of handling is ok, but not all frogs are so keen on being handled so be sure your frog has become accustomed to you and trusts you enough. Of course this can not be said for all since they are all individually different not only by species, but their personalities as well.

Use common sence and good judgment when it come to handling your frog.

Get a container with a large flat bottom and high walls like a critter keeper and only fill the water depth to half the height of your frog, but no deeper than up to its chin. Always supervise your frog while it soaks so you can intervene if the frog appears to be in distress. Most will still try to get out it takes time for them to get used to you bathing them.

Also be careful when transporting your frog from enclosure to bath and bath back to enclosure. Also do not bath the frog in a drafty room or one that is cooled by A/C because the draft can make them sick. Water should be Luke warm or just barely warm to the touch. 78° Is a good water temp.

Why is it necessary to soak the frog? Doesn't the water dish not fulfil the needs of the frog?

How often should I soak the frog?

    Thank you.

I explained in my posts above. It is not necessary, but can be beneficial. Read my posts above for the answers to your questions.

I don't handle mine only to show people or when I'm cleaning the tank. Excessive
Handling will cause stress and they say stress is a silent killer..

I handle mine to put them in their water dish for a nice soak. Sometimes for pictures, but usually I just photograph them in their own environment doing there normal things.

We believe in the soak every 10 to 14 days. Always done like Grif said 2 birds with one stone. Photo time, tank cleaning etc.
although our 2 frogs don't seem to mind bath time and have always rewarded us with a nice turd or two for the effort.

Handling my frogs is actually the one thing I try to avoid as much as possible, simply because handling them creates stress. Most amphibians aren't meant to be handled like some reptiles or mammals.

I agree. My pacs don't mind when I set them in their water bowl. My red eyes would be quite startled. We never handle them unless they're sick. Although, when I brought my sick red eyes home I had to hand feed 2 of them and they come right up to me now. Still, I think they are happier not being bothered.
