    hey guys!
I was hoping someone could shed some light on a dilema im having.. haha
ive got FBT's and im researching ways to upgrade my tank, and im struggling finding ways of separating the substrate from the water? i have a rectangular plant pot in there at the moment as a temporary basis, but its not doing it for me. i want to create a more natural habitat for them, lots of foliage and wood. does anyone have any useful websites or advice for me please? much appreciated !

You can silicone in a smooth divider or silicone together large rocks or smooth decor as the land. You can make a ridge with the rocks on top as a border, kind of like an slightly elevated box, you can also use foam to create boundaries. Great stuff foam and/or styrofoam coated in silicone or grout. Lots of options.

This is my favorite site for some ideas... http://www.lizard-landscapes.com

    Hope this helps

ahhh this is great thank you so much heather! you dont know how long its been taking me to find a site like that! so i take it most if not all the ideas can be converted as use for toads and water?
because i have no clue really of ways of going about what im trying to achieve, planting ups going to be a challenge in itself! haha. can silcone from a hardware store be just as good or does it have to be a certain type? x

You're welcome. Any brand of silicone is fine so long as it's 100% silicone.

Many people also use great-stuff foam, spray it, and carve it after it dries. Look through Donlisk's pages. He has step by step instructions.

Another way to do it is to create an eggcrate false bottom. Since you'd like a land and water area you could make on with "stairs" for them to head to land on just one third or half.

Nice viv's guys, I really need to get mine going... I just can't decide what kind of frogs I want to get.. I have a 20 gallon long tank and a 18x18x24 exo terra just waitin to be worked on. I'll make sure to post a pic here once I get one of them done.

I like your viv a lot Lynn, I've never really seen one done quite like that. Looks like it wasn't too much trouble all awhile being comfortable for your RETF's, What are those things you have your plants sitting on against the glass?

Also, where do you guys suggest getting plants? Are places like Lowes / local plant shops a safe place to get plants for frogs?

Though I just took it apart and put the frogs in a new tank, so I can re-build that one soon, and hopefully making it look better (Like a more natural background ect)

Not sure if you are asking me, but if so, then I used expanded clay pellets under the substrate.
