    Default ADF Help

Hi, I got a dwarf frog about a month ago and so far it's been awesome. My friend bought it for me at a size of about 1 1/2 of an inch so if I'm correct it's an adult already. I wanted to buy another one, however the only ones they sell at the pet store now consists of frogs ranging from about 1/2 of an inch to 1 inch in size. At one point I put in a snail and my frog immediately attacked it as soon as it came out and just gave it away to my friend.

My question is would it be safe to put another dwarf frog smaller than the one I have now?
    Advice is appreciated

    Additional information:
    3 1/2 gallon tank
    Sand bottom
    3 plants to be exact
Also new to the forums and first time owning a frog

I'm sure an ADF will cannibalize if the other frog is small enough as most amphibians tend to do.. I believe the general rule of thumb is that most animals will take prey that is no larger than 1/3 their size (then again some amphibians have huge mouths.. but ADF don't).. I would make sure they're roughly the same size to play it safe.. no less than 1/2 the size of your current frog should work..

Thanks! Will definitely take this into account!

I am not sure if these frogs are cannibalistic, maybe a ADF keeper can shed some light on this behavior. These frogs have been known to leave the water on occasion, so a secure lid is a must. It sounds strange but several species of aquatic frogs are able to climb out of the water.

I would like to report that I've recently added another dwarf frog and at first the bigger one was a little hostile but eventually they met each other and started making "clicking" noises and have accepted each other. Thanks for the help!

ADF are quite a bit more laid back than their Xenopus cousins luckily, glad it worked out!
