Gee Ra, I guess you missed the part where it said there would be NO a/c running and the house would be in the high 90's then?? Not quite a cooling down, right? And Morgan is right......you think this kid can pull off a forced brumation if he doesn't know simple care?? It's usually dome under supervision at our house anyway.....we monitor them. Mostly because we care if they make it through. This kid also stated that he has done this exact same thing before and the frog died.....pretty sure this is history repeating itself. Personally, I would advise this child to wait until he/she is mature enough to handle the care of a frog.

On the note about brumation, I was just raising the question, these are large hardy frogs after all that are evolved to deal with drastically changing seasonal conditions so I think its unlikely that the frog would die after two weeks if the right conditions were met before he left. That is, if those conditions were met. And they really arent all that hard to meet, unless you dont have an a/c unit or a cool basement.

He stated last time that he attempted to take his frog with on vacation on a long road trip which seems ridiculous, but he doesnt want to repeat that scenario obviously.

What I find odd is that there isnt any body that can at least come over every couple of days to mist the tank and change the water dish. Like, nobody at all. That seems odd to me.

If nothing has been prepared correctly to start brumation the frog will still die. A lot of frogs that are allowed to aestivate or brumate under a year of age never wake up.

As I said we have no idea whether the frog is even healthy enough to even think about brumation and yes this particular person lacks any necessary experience and or ability to allow the frog to undergo this process. It would still be a death sentence for the frog.

Just reading the first post it sounded like the frog was probably not being kept warm enough, so I'd guess it hasn't been eating well... Regardless, the person seems to have stopped replying. They've probably already left. I just hope they found someone to take care of it..
