    Question So...What's next?

Alright so over the past couple of weeks I've acquired quite a few new "roommates" one having more than 4 legs :P. So I'm stuck on what's next. This is the first time I've had a job (Target woohoo!) and I'm finding myself wanting to get more and more. I currently own a Pacman frog and a Malaysian painted frog (My Tomato frog passed away a while ago, I just couldn't bring myself to make a RIP post about him) a Jones' Armadillo lizard and a Tarantula (Grammostola rosea). Should I just be happy with what I have? I'm worried that I don't want the animals for the right reason, I'm worried that I'm just craving that excitement of getting a new animal. Any thoughts? Lol kind of a random post, I know. Guess I'm just bored :P

I would stick with what you have. I have a lot of animals myself, most I saved, two I bought. Over all I have 11 mouths to feed, thats not including my insect colonies. Working full time, going to school part time, and having a social life gets tough sometimes when you have so many animals to take care of. Plus you have to consider who will take care of them if you need to go out of town.
I always want more but I have gained a tough will power to just say no. If I were you I would stay away from pet stores. If you do need to go for supplies I would just stay away from looking at what the pet store is selling. I will be going to a reptile expo in a month and I will be giving my wallet to my sister in law and I told her to only give me my wallet if I am buying supplies.

Stick with what you have for a while. It's easy to get addicted to the awesome feeling of getting new exotic animals, trust me, we all struggle with it XD

Do you tong feed your animals? Tong feeding makes me feel closer to my animals, plus I end up spending a lot more time with them than I would otherwise. This is a great way to distract yourself from wanting more pets :P

Shop for pet supplies online (amazon.com is awesome) instead of in pet stores. This will help you not be tempted to buy more animals.

I definitely agree about sticking with what you have. I've did that so many times with pets when I was younger and almost always regretted it (it was so hard balancing multiple critters, work, school, regular life, my family, etc.) The feeling is great to get more but then you realize after that wears off, you're all "omg what will I do with all of them!" I'd give it some time, adjust to your job and see how it is taking care of what you have. Then go from there. (This is coming from someone with one cat, one dog and soon 2-3 frogs - that'll be my max for a loooong time!)

I agree. See how the new job goes for you and what kind of extra time and money you'll have. You may need a few hours break in the day between work and critters . That way you can enjoy them without the added stress of multiple tank care.

(With my rescues in quarantine, I currently have the 2 extra retf tanks in addition to my 3 pac tanks, rescue tadpoles/now baby toads tank, my daughters newt tank, our small fish tank, and my 2 larger retf tanks. If done properly with fresh water each day, misting, feedings, calcium/vita's, and the medications with time between each med and feedings for the last one who won't eat on her own yet it takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours each day, plus bug feedings and care in between. I enjoy seeing them heal and improve, but the time shared with caring for them is something to think about. Especially on days when I work 7-7:30 and sometimes don't get home until 9pm.)

Of course, hopefully yours would be healthy and it may be unlikely you'd get 5 extra frogs . Still, added time would be involved for their care.

(I love what I do to help them, but I'd also love a little relaxation or me time, which is pretty much nil.)

Ah, I'm rambling as usual, lol , but... It might be a good idea to wait it out. You can always enjoy others here in the meantime . Then, when you're ready you'll know exactly what you want and have time for .
