    Default Pacman Frog Question

Hey guys, I was just going to ask a couple of questions about Pacman frogs. I REALLY wanted one when I got my new frog, but my mom FREAKED when she found out they have to eat mice when they get bigger. After that, I was afraid to even ask if I could get one, so I settled on a Green Tree Frog. I would greatly appreciate it if you guys could give me ANY information on Pacman frogs (maintenance, habitat, activeness) because maybe in a year or so after my parents see how responsible I am with my current frog, they would be open to letting me get a Pacman. Thanks!

You don't need to feed mice or even pinkies. Night crawlers, crickets, dubia roaches and samurai pacman food are all good choices. A little mixture of these and you will be all set. Just make sure you look into calcium and other dusting supplements.

Read this for general info on pacman care: Frog Forum - Pacman and Horned Frogs - Ceratophrys - Care and Breeding. I would also browse through the threads in this section so you get an idea about what caring for a pac is like. It was probably good in the long run that you got another frog first. Despite often being labled as an easy, beginner pet, pacs can be harder to care for.

It is true that they do not Need to ever be fed mice. Even if they are given them, it should only be as a treat (every couple of months) because they are very high in fat and can cause health issues if fed too often. Every Hotnickles said is right. Although I would imagine if your mom was disturbed by the idea of mice that roaches aren't going to go over well either.... Lol! :-D
