    Post New to frogs here

Hi guys. My name is Sam and I'm completely new to frogs.

I keep Tarantula, snakes and lizards and I've been looking into frogs recently.

I have no experience with frogs at all so I welcome any and all advice. I'm not even sure which species I would like to keep but I think I would prefer something smaller that can be kept communally and that is fairly hardy. I originally started looking into Peakocks tree frogs but I'm unsure if they would be suitable or even obtainable for me.

Anyhow I'll look forward to getting to know the community here, and once again I always appreciate advice and help.

    Hi Kirsten

I keep a few Tarantula (I'll give the common names for people who are't really spider people). I keep Mexican Red Knee, Mexican Red Legged, Chile Flame, Salmon Pink, Venezuelan Sun Tiger, Green Bottle Blue, Brazilian Black, Antilles Pinktoe, Chaco Golden Knee, Usambara Baboon, Horned Baboon, Kilimanjaro Mustard Baboon, Feather Legged Baboon, Skeleton Tarantula, Desert Blonde. I think thats it. I used to keep a few more but it was starting to become unmanageable.

As for lizards I have a Chinese Water Dragon and a pair of Leopard Geckos. The CWD is pretty much blind and has to be hand fed.

I started with snakes and they are still my favourite reptiles. I have a Snow Cornsnake, Californian Kingsnake, Florida Kingsnake, Kenyan Sand Boa, Royal Python and 2 Checkered Garters. Garters are my favourite and I'm planning to get two communal Vivariums set up (one for males and one for females).

Really I could do with more room as Its starting to get a little cramped in my place lol

Hello Sam, welcome to the forum! I am new too (only a couple of days) and I think that a Green Tree Frog would be good to start out with. That is what I got and it is probably one of the easiest amphibians to take care of.

    It's Kristen, haha
Haha that'd be best therwise I'd be stuck googling them
That's unfortunate about your CWD, but lucky your one of those people who take care of an animal if they're disabled/sick. Not just give up and give it away/stop caring.
Ah yes I love snakes! Just don't have the room for one, haha. You have a great collection!

Me too! haha I think every herp keeper does

What animals do you keep? I'm guessing they would all be native if your in Australia. You really do have an amazing array of animals over there

    The frogs are
    Whites tree frogs Litoria Caerulea(2)
Southern brown tree frogs Litoria Ewingii(4)
Spotted marsh frogs Limnodynastes Tasmaniensis (5)

I have a Southern Marbled gecko Christinus marmoratus

An Eastern blue tongue lizard Tiliqua scincoides scincoides

And I used to have two Eastern long necked turtles Chelodina longicollis
Not that many animals but with all the tanks it can get a bit crowded. (and I just picked another 40 gallon up, yikes!)
