    Default There's a leak!

    Hello everyone!

Am am a owner of 3 Australian Green Tree Frogs. The vivarium is split into 1/2 land and 1/2 water. Dividing it is a piece of plastic siliconed to the bottom.

I checked this morning and there was water on the land part! It was around 1/4 of the way up of the plastic divider. Im starting to freak out! My parents think i should just leave it so its a full water
but i really don't want want that. They're out now and im trying to think of a way to fix it and explain to them.

It will be hard for us to buy a whole new tank but i could buy a big plastic tub to put them in for the day until its fixed. I know the scent of silicon stays for a while and i really don't want to frogs to stay in the temporary tank for long. They have been stressed out enough as they have been here for only 1 week.

Ill keep you guys posted on everything that happens.

    Sorry David.
You could just pull it and give them a water dish for soaking?
Might be easier , in the long run, to maintain?
Your frogs will not care about it............ as long as you are there to feed, water and maintain their enclosure

From my experience with the saltwater hobby I have found that silicone does not bond well with plastic like it does glass. This will cause leaking issues. If possible use a piece of glass, just make sure the sharp edges are covered to prevent frog injury. Hope this helps.

Well, this morning i woke up and fixed it up.

What i did is put the pot plants into a jar so no water gets into them and i raised the pebbles up and just let the leak be. It doesn't make a difference accept there is a little water on the "land side" between the pebbles.
Anyway, it should be fine but ill keep an eye on it.

never just siliconed plastic as a divider, always use glass
