I said in the last post. Some bait shops and gas stations carry night crawlers that contain dyes and chemical scents for attracting fish. Those kinds are not safe for frogs. They're fine if you know for a FACT that they do not contain dyes or chemicals.

Well, my little guy finally ate a Hornworm. It was pretty cool, me and a few friends just got back from fishing and I wanted them to see my new pacmans. I came into the room and turned on the light and saw my little guy roaming around, I threw in a hornworm that's a little over a inch, kind of chubby, maybe half the size of the frog.. probably smaller. He sat there and stared at the worm for a minute, I didn't think he was going to eat it.. then he snapped and gulped it down, took him a second but he got it. He also got his arm stuck in his mouth and was trying to eat it.. I had to pull it out for fear he'd hurt himself. Overall seeing him eat the worm for his first time was pretty exciting and even better since my friends were there to see it.

The Green Apple refused an earth worm. He just closes his eyes and plays dead or something whenever I try and give him stuff, won't try again until this time tomorrow. He has a few good size legless crickets roaming his cage in the meantime if he gets hungry.

Ok another question, How often should this baby frog be having a bowel movement? I don't THINK he's had one since I got him on Saturday. I've checked the holes he burrows and don't see anything standing out.. I've put him in his water bowl and I've seen him push/fart/urinate whatever he does to move all the dirt behind him, lol. He's done this twice, on separate days when I've placed him in water. The Green apple hasn't even done this, still refusing to eat.

Usually every 3 to 5 days, but babies can poop everyday to every other day. Keep an eye on him and when you soak him use Luke warm de-chlorinated water.

You may have to force feed the Apple if it doesn't eat tomorrow.

The Green Apple took a number 2 last night, I placed him in his water bowl and he sat there all night (water bowls in his tank, he chose to sit there) and he used the bathroom. Since then.. he's been sitting half buried in the coco fiber with his eyes closed, as if he's sleeping. Maybe he's finally getting comfortable? Or is this a sign that he's getting more stressed? I'm going to try and feed him again tonight and if that doesn't work I'll probably give force feeding a try.

OK, so a little update and some questions. I force fed my Green Apple a Hornworm with some multivitamin the night before last and he ate it.. he was looking real skinny once I took him out of his tank, so I force fed him a earthworm w/calcium last night too. It wasn't hard at all, just took a clean butter knife and slipped it between his lips a bit and he opened wide, put the worms in and he did the rest. I think he liked the nightcrawler more, tbh. I'll offer him another nightcrawler tonight, but won't force it.

Now... on to my little guy. Eating like a pig. Intervals of crickets / hornworms every other night. It is shedding as we speak! I walked over to his tank and saw him puffed up huge and was shocked, I didn't think I had got him that fat already.. then he deflated and was opening and closing his mouth. I figured he was shedding, looked up it and it was. It also looks REALLY wet, which seemed unusual since he wasn't in his water bowl. He never gets in it on his own. But yah.. it shed and appears to be doing fine, I'm going to feed it here in a minute.

So what kind of things should I look for if it's having trouble shedding? Is shedding problems common? I heard as long as humidity is right, they'll be fine.. I looked over at my green apple when my little guy was shedding and the thought came to mind, that if this green apple can't move correctly, can he shed correctly? If he can't remove his shed, will this stunt his growth? When he moves, he pretty much flails. He clearly has a calcium deficiency..

Anyways, the green pacman is doing great. I decided I will name it Melon, Mel for short, heh. It reminds me of a watermelon cause he's dark green and has a light white stripe going down the middle of his back and on each of his sides, I'm going to try and get an updated picture here in a little bit.
