OoOoOoOO what fish have you decided upon ??? I am at the mist of my new Viv which I want to add a couple of fish to eat the insects that drown.....cannot decide whether to get a betta, tetras, or pygmy corys - as they are all happy with the tannins I expect my water will get......hmmm or maybe a couple of dwarf tropical shrimps.

I ended up buying a Map treefrog. He is pretty cool. He woke up about 3 minutes after the lights went out (since he is nocturnal) and he was crawling all over the glass. Here is a pic of him.

Also I would recommend the betta out of those. Cories are boring and like to shoal, and tetras might be a bit small and get eaten, depending on the size of the frog, and the type of tetras. Shrimp will be a tasty snack for most frogs, and they dont eat bugs. They eat algae and bits of uneaten food or dead plants and animals.

That's a beautiful frog, bmlbytes. Keep us posted on his doings. You really have found a great place for Q+A and the like.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but I thought I'd vote for Bearnandos getting shrimp, rather than a betta. Male bettas get pretty picky about filter currents, and I don't think they'd pick clean a drowned cricket as well as a shrimp would. Also, if you're worried about them getting gulped, the shrimp would make a safer, bone-free snack than a betta; you didn't mention what species are in the tank, so I don't know how likely that is to happen.

Best of luck to you both.

Oh the fish were in there before the frog. There are some neon tetras in there right now. I don't think the frog will get them since neons stay toward the bottom of the water when they are not in large groups.

I'd love to see a pic of the whole tank. How big is it?
