what can i feed them aside from veggies
what can i feed them aside from veggies
they have food at pet stores for crickets. right now im using the food/water blend.
ive also used crushed up dog food and they faught like crazy over that stuff.
for water when i was using dog food i took a straw and wrapped toilet paper around it and sprayed it with water. they made a mess out of it though and it got all over the tank.
id just go with cricket food. google helps![]()
I keep a small dish of oatmeal in with my crickets for a staple diet. I supplement that with veggie scraps that I have leftover from dinner or from feeding my Hermann's tortioses. For moisture I use water crystals, they soak up water and expand to about 100 times. The crickets can then get water from the crystals without drowning. I keep my crickets in a 55gal storage container with top soil substrate and egg cartons and paper towel tubes for them to hide in. I raise my own because I live in Montana and getting crickets shipped in the winter can be iffy.

I use catfood, dogfood, and fish flakes. They go nuts over that stuff. I also feed them rolled oats and wheat bran which can get a little messy. Variety helps their nutrition tremendously.
For water I chop up apples, carrots, and I give them vitamin fortified water crystals from flukers. It is $3 for 16 oz but I dont use that much because I mainly rely on fruit for their water supply
Its possible that they do not have enough surface area. If they are cramped together they will each eachother as well. Use eggcrate and toilet rolls.
You can give them leafy greens for water. If you give them iceberg lettuce that will supply them with water, but not nutrients, so give them some fruit and veggies for nutrition.
