Strange Toad Noises

I have a nine year old fire-belly toad that just got done shedding. He hasn't eaten in weeks and is now making noises that sound like the noise made by popping your lips together to annoy your siblings during a long car ride. When he makes these noises, he also opens his mouth for a moment. I fear it might be impaction, but I don't know. Any ideas?
