which pacman to choose?

we are thinking about getting another pacman, first we thought about getting albino cranvelli, but I like cornuta or fantazy... i kinda like them all :lol: is there any difference in their behavior or feeding response? habitat requirements I'm assuming are the same, just cornuta is going to be bigger, thus tank should be bigger for adult.

If I may make a suggestion, and this is at the risk of possibly derailing the thread a little, why not get a Budgett's frog instead? They're harder to find than most Pacmans, but they're totally worth it. They're basically aquatic Pacman frogs, and they're awesome animals. I posted a care sheet in the Budgett's frog section in case you or anyone else may be interested.

i think budgetts are cool but pacs are so much cuter, i just wanna hug my little pacs where as i wanna keep a distance with a budgetts only a mother can love me face/body

D'awwwwwww! So cute! My first one was a Cranwelli...and so was my second, because Petsmart mis-labeled their stuff...of course. I love them both so much though! I picked up a Cornuta for my third (and final one for now!) because it's so much different looking than the others, and I was able to get a cbb and no worry about problems with it being wild-caught. But in the end I guess it just kind of comes down to which one you find the most attractive?

funny part that they are so cute when they are not burrowed and look so evil when you can see just eyes sticking out.

I only have the one Cornuta, and he's still only a little bigger than a quarter, but he definitely doesn't like to be seen...although he's not good at burrowing yet. So I'll walk by to look and he'll suddenly flatten himself against the substrate like "Ohhhhh ****!". I also didn't know if he was eating for a while, but discovered he's a very private eater, and have heard this about other Cornutas as well.

hm... 85% is very difficult to have in alberta, I'm afraid humidity no matter what I do will be 80% max, if to keep substrate damp.... unless I put a waterfall in there, but it will take a lot of space and if to go with bigger tank then waterfall won't help much... will need to play around and see if it is achievable before getting a frog. does anyone tried foggers, do they help at all?

Never problem feeding with mine. I do think fantasies have a higher need for proper humidity. I've heard of them refusing, but probably due to improper care. I don't think many fantasies are in novice hands due to the cost and store availability.

Morgan is right about them being more sensitive to improper climate. Fantasies and C. Cornuta actually like a little bit higher humidity levels. around 85% I believe.

I have two of the zoomed reptifoggers...No way could I/anyone keep amphibs happy here in the desert without one.

Morgan has your humidity problem solved. If you purchase a Zoo Med Hygrotherm Unit and hook a Zoo Med Repfifogger up to it, it will control the climate for you. These guys like the fog.

No problems. I don't use the hygro; preferring to use timer along with 40 watt inc for heat. Halfhour on-half off, and off at night. The fogger almost instantly drops ambient air temp by 5-8 degrees. So just observe closely for a day or two. The fogger is strong...I have mine set to lowest point on dial. Great product that will benefit any amphibs when used appropriately.

I use 50 watt incandescent with the Hygrotherm, Reptifogger, and UTH on the side if the tank. Climate never drops more than Half a degree when either is running. Timers work well to. A few of the Tree frog keepers on here have misting systems on timers. Ill probably get one of this too. I have a Vivarium that I made for my Big Brown female Grif, but don't have any cleaning Isopods in there yet so I'm not putting her in til I have some. Its growing well so plants are fine with the climate, but don't want to risk any fungal infections.

thank you guys! going shopping! hope I'll find those things here, it is insane when you think how much it all cost in comparison to actual frog :lol: but you gotta do what you gotta do the only problem i have is that there are too many cables of some sort sticking out of terrariums....

Good news! Buy an additional hose from Lowes, it's easy to hook one fogger to two enclosures. And the included adapter also fits 2 Liter plastic bottles.
