    Default RETF force feeding

Has anyone ever had to force feed a RETF? what are the behaviors like afterwards? We had to force feed ournew little one because it had been over a week since he even tried hunting. It was begining to lose weight. Now he's at the bottle and look a tad pale. Worried, very worried!!

Why are you having to force feed it? You should get it checked out by a Vet if this is the case. It maybe treatable whatever it is.

He's now at the bottom of the tank*

We decided to take action because its been about a week since its last meal. We tried calling the shop.we got from but they just gave us the run around. Everywhere else we called was closed due to it being Sunday. We just wanted to get a yummy cricket in his belly to make sure he made it ling enough so we can find a herp vet in our area.

id start out by getting a fecal examination done the next time your frog poops if it does poop.

as for force feeding i own 3 red eyes and i have had to force feed. the frog was perfectly fine afterwards. just like it never happened.

there are some great videos on youtube that show you how better than i can tell you how by typing it out. i would start with only 1 cricket.

also email dr frye. if the frog is not eating and sleeping on the floor, more than likely something is causing that. a picture of the frog and the enclosure would also be great. and fill out the form on the "trouble in the enclosure" thread and maybe we can help you out more.

also a vet would be a great idea if you have the money.

i only had to force feed them once for them to perk back up again. here is what dr frye emailed me

The cost is $18 per group of frogs housed together. Collect 3-5 feces from each group of frogs and put them in a small air-tight container with a small amount of moist paper towel to keep them from drying out. Label each tank’s sample and send them ASAP to 517 West Main St, Milan MI 48160. Try to aim for a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday delivery. We are closed Wednesdays and Sundays, and the hospital closes on Saturdays before mail arrives. Next day delivery is ideal, but 2-day will work. You can include a check, call my hospital to pre-pay via credit card at 734-439-2273, or send me funds through Pay-Pal at dr.frye.vetatmilan@gmail.com . Thanks.
