Got an aquarium or water filled terrarium? Black Worms are 1 to 2 inches long, and live off of their own body weight while stored in the refrigerator.

California Black Worms (Lumbriculus Variegatus) are native to the silt edges of clean streams around North America. They are similar to but not tubifex, the sewage worm. They are harvested in a clean, controlled environment, and not from hatchery ponds, ditches, creek beds, or any other natural environment where unknown contaminants might enter.

Our Black Worms are free of any parasitic roundworms, tapeworms, Ich, flukes, Hexamita, and any other obligate fish diseases that black worms from other sources may carry.

Black Worms are difficult to overfeed with, as any extra worms that your freshwater fish don't eat simply live in the aquarium until they do and won't harm any of your aquarium life. Even with this, you should only feed your fish the amount relative to their length and size. While Black Worms will live in a freshwater aquarium for a while, they will die quickly when placed in saltwater due to their sensitive skin, so only feed your marine fish as many as they will eat immediately.

Black Worms are ideal for acclimating wild-caught freshwater fish and fish stressed from recent transport. Even picky marine fish have been known to eat Black Worms! Being that they are a small worm native to river beds that are similar to earthworms, we find that amphibians love these little things!

Remember, these are an uncommonly available feeder amongst the US Amphibian hobbyist community, so get them while you can!

We currently sell them in 2oz portion cups, each containing 250+ worms easy, for a great price, and they are available for shipment along with your isopods, springtails, nematodes, and terrarium supplies available at the Small Pet Feeders main facility in Marietta, GA.

We recommend that you have the little guys shipped via Fedex Overnight to guarantee live arrival, but we find with some ice packs in an ice box, Fedex 2 day can work in certain climates, but we can't guarantee this.
