First, how long can a FBT stay underwater safely? They all go under briefly, or even a minute or two when the males get agressive when they are trying to get an uncooperative female in amplexis. But this is something completely different. Motley was just laying underwater on the bottom of the tank for over. 2 minutes, then he went to the side of the tank, very slowly, like it was hard for him. This is totally out of character--he is mt most active FBT, always zooming all over the tank & always looks like he's having fun Now he is laying on a rock & his sides are compressing rythemically like he has lungs. When he went to the side of the tank I saw a little white-ish mucous-like blob that quickly dissipated. I'm sure he's not impacted, I'm very careful about the size of stones I put in there and I boil them first. He had a waxworm last week which he wolfed right down. Since then he has eaten crickets normally. He is always all over the place, climbing the sides of the tank and climbing the plants. I've had him 2 years and he has never behaved like this. Could he have fallen & gotten hurt? There is a great animal hospital about 25 miles away but I don't want to take him if it isn't necessary--I am recuperating from spine surgery and it would be very difficult for me to get him there. Am I over reacting or is my little guy sick. I really love this frog, please let me know whay you think.
Sorry I dont have any experience w FBT, but how is he doing?
Could the white mucus be shed? I know mine become less active while in shed.
Sorry, I'm a newbie...... what's "in shed" mean?
I assume it's not in a wooden house at the bottom of the garden![]()
