I have found AND confirmed a SINGLE mite in my vivarium. I'm sure its not the only one...but I am just scared to death. Earlier I saw what I thought were springtails__which they were. Then I continued lookiing and found no other but_ a mite. A thing the size of a dot tinted black/ red. It just crushes me. I worked so hard on this vivarium and now I'm gonna have to tear it down. What do you guys suggest I do? Its not a total infestation...I only found one, and it was on some driftwood_not my frog. Should I totally tear everything down and start over or is there an easier solution like taking out the wood and spraying (excuse my language)__spraying/ scrubbing the f*** out if it. I would just die if I knew my entire family of amphibians and reptiles all got the mites.

dont freak out because it doesnt solve the problem. there are certain chemical solutions you can google on the internet. if you dont want to use chemicals than there is a brand called mite off that I hear works pretty well. I would either trash the substrate or heat it up above 165 (this temp kills all bacteria, bugs, fungus, mold) you can also take the driftwood out and use a 10:1 water:bleach ratio. ALWAYS disinfect everything if you take it from outside. you can pose a threat to your frogs with all kinds of nasty bugs and diseases. driftwood is a perfect home for hookworms, termites, and mites.

CO2 bomb it. Take the frogs out first and temporary house them in something else
