Newbie: set-up for adult Western Toad?

Update: He ate two more nightcrawlers tonight from tongs. I made sure he didn't get any moss in his mouth. Should I try to offer him some more worms if he's willing to eat them? This is the first time he's eaten all week.

Toads usually prefer dryer conditions. If you want a damp substrate that is safe for him to ingest go with Eco Earth Coconut Fiber(not husk). If he ingest some of the Eco Earth he can easily pass it.

Okay that sounds good. I wasn't sure exactly how dry or damp Western Toads like their environment to be but I'll pick up some Eco Earth Coconut Fiber and maybe I should leave the substrate dry but mist every day and provide a water bowl? Or should I continue to dampen the substrate a bit?

Just make it damp. You can make it a little more moist on the cool side where the water dish is.
