thats the first step
saw an ad on craigslist about a week ago. red eyed tree frog for sale with exo terra. they wanted $120. i wasnt interested in anything but the frog. i talked to him for a bit and after he said he would only sell everything together i told him to let me know if he ever changed his mind and id buy the frog from him. He changed his mind today
I drove to his house which was further away than expected. about 45 minutes. i arrived to a HUGE definite female kept inside a small exothe probably 6ish year old daughter snatched her right out the tank and she jumped on me then to my girlfriend. It took all my might to bite my tongue. i checked out the tank to see what the conditions were....there were 2 poops floating in the water and it was old looking....and there was only moss covering the bottom. she is twice as big as my two red eyes. and super fat.
the kids were torchering her. shaking the tubberwear she was in trying to get her to jump. poking her. just driving her crazy. he claims to have had her for about a year so she must be pretty tuff to have delt with that lifestyle. i took her straight home and put her in a 20 gallon sterilite with some paper towels a water bowl and a feeding dish.
I noticed on the way home she was shedding and had some skin still stuck to her feet she was having trouble getting off. also she is really big. i need to figure out a way to get a size difference picture between my others. my others are in a quarantine process and i will not let them anywhere near each other. before i introduce them i will get rid of the hookworms in my others and make sure both fecal examinations show no signs of anything. probably going to be months down the road. i snapped a quick picture when i was taking her out the tub and putting her in her new home. i doubt you can understand how big she is from the picture but i figured id post it anyways.
if there is anything you recommend for a new frog living inthese conditions let me know. and ill get some better pictures to show how fat she is....i mean seriously she looks like some of yalls whites tree frogs. shes huge.......
and do i need to put this thing on a diet?.....i guess im used to males.
anyways...this makes me 1.1.1 and looking at the size difference maybe 2.1.0 even thos the unknown one hasnt croaked that i know of...and doesnt have nubital pads like my male. her foot is as big as their whole head lol

second one is the new one. now im 1.1.1... and the unknown one is probably a male. i bought her because she was bigger than my other male and i was hoping she was female. but by looking at the size difference im thinking i was wrong. so might be 2.1.0
Wow, she looks great! Good to hear she has a better home than what she originally had with the youngsters stressing her out.
Hopefully in time, we'll see some eggs!![]()
zoggs,
That poor frog !!!
Congrats !
What does she measure S to V.
????????? looks like over 3 inches ??????? She is a nice size!
Can you imagine how big she will be when you get some meat on her.
It will be a long time before they all get together.
When are you planing to repeat the fecals on your other guys?
Just wondering, what are they being treated with? Panacure?

yeah panacur. im having a hard time with it. i think my other 2 are starting to get real sick. since i moved them last night into a new tub they didnt eat at all. and they are both side by side. starting to look skinny. i might force feed them both a cricket so i know they get the medicine.
im also having trouble getting the panacur to stick. its no where near as sticky as the calcium powder. its barely dusted on the crickets. i tried breaking it up more but it didnt seem to help.
would it be dangerous to give panacur to the new female as well? just to be sure? i thought she ate the night before last but still hasnt pooped. and didnt eat last night that i know of. kind of getting scared for my frogs and i dont know what to do. i dont have tons of money. ill PM you what another smart zoologist/chemist/herptologist sent me.
Gratz on that beautiful Red Eye! My 3rd Whites was a rescue as well, so I know what you are going through. It feels soooooooo good to see them go from bad conditions and know that you have put them where they need to be and that they will have a good life from that point on! Its good to see that I am not the only one that cannot say no to a little froggy in need!
As far as the Panacur I am not real sure about that one, I think Lynn may have a better idea on that one. Sorry Lynn for throwing your name around. :-)
