Hello Pacman friends :-)
I have been out of the hobby for a few years and recently bought a red Pacman. I was wondering if it was a "Fantasy Frog Hybrid" due to a few of the pictures in Google Images looking somewhat similar. Any input would be much appreciated. :-)![]()
Looks to me like an Ornate, but I'm a novice so I wouldn't quote me on that.
Yeap RED ORNATE, a nice one at that. good score and welcome back to the hobby. Pacs are addicting. That looks like a high red at that, where did you get him from?
To be honest if i am wrong, GRIFFTHEGREAT, or MIKESFROGS will for sure give you a better definition of what you have, those 2 right on this forum are simply TOPS when it comes to PACS, aslo Ivoryreptiles, what ever these 3 keepers/breeders of pacs tell you take it as LAW, they for sure know their stuff and are a WEALTH of help and knowledge.
Ivan is spot on. That is definitely a High Red C. Ornata. A very BEAUTIFUL one at that.
Ornates have false eye spots right behind each eye and you can plainly see them in the second pic. Very nice find.
That is a beautiful Ornate! LOVE the high red on it!
Welcome back to the hobby!
A guy sold him to me off craigslist, I thought it was too good to be true because a few years ago when I used to keep frogs I never saw or heard of a red pacman so I knew I HAD to have him! I'm hoping to breed him soon, but I wouldn't even know where to look for a good red female. Any suggestions? (Every site I've looked at doesn't have any available.)
Thanks for the confirmation, guys. Its the best news I've had all day :-)
You won't find any adult female ornates for sale online. I and a few other breeders buy them soon as they are posted.
Look in your mom and pop reptile stores around you. That's the best way of finding them at a good size.
I found a pair of sub adults last week for 75.00
Georgia bulls has some ornates that are good sized. I sold them awahile back To him. He might sell some
What about this little green guy? Any ideas on what he could be?![]()
Looks like a lime green albino, I am sure the others here will tell you for sure. But that's my guess. Looks healthy as well. Did you get it from the same person?
Looks like a Lime Green Albino to me. Make sure that Ornate has no possible way of coming in contact with it. The Ornate will eat that baby with out a second thought.
Lime Green Albino, yet another that I have never seen or heard. When I first got this one, I thought it was a typical green baby. Google Images set me straight, thanks for the ID ;-) Although, he doesn't look EXACTLY like those, I can see the resemblance. Are they fantasy frogs?
No I believe a fantasy frog is a cross between a cranweli and a cornuta. These albino lime greens are to my belief a pure cranweli. Again I could be wrong, if so the gents here will correct me. I just picked up a samurai blue and also a strawberry, I have posted pics in another thread.
Great looking ornate! I really like that little lime green as well.
If you are looking for a female ornate to breed to that male I have some for sale.
They are juveniles so you will have to wait a while before you can breed.
They are samurai blueline ornates, they are predominately red with a blueish green stripe down their back.
They are really great looking frogs and not very easy to come by. They are going from $100 to $250 depending on color quality.
All of them are very healthy and great eaters. If you are interested email me at ga_bulls@live.com
