I have Cranwellies and an Ornate. Ornates are usually described as more aggressive and are said to be more colorful, but on the coloring I've learned that they are not always more colorful that Cranwells. I've seen some very dull dark colored Ornates and some extremely bright Cranwellies. I purchased my Ornate from Mike here and he is an excellent buy. Very Oxblood red and has a nice pattern on him. I also have a Samurai Blue male and he is very bright in color. his Seafoam Green coloring and Blue splotches are very striking and beautiful and he is only a medium Sam Blue. The Samurai Blue is a Cranwelli morph. The Super Red Blue Line Ornates which is what I have have a nice bright blue/greening down their back. Hence the name.
Now on the aggression part as Ornates are known to not only be aggressive feeders, but also with their care taker. Its probably just me, but I'm never attacked and he usually doesn't even get mad at me for picking him up out of his burrow and giving him a bathI have always been good with animals and I must give off some sort of vibe that lowers aggression twards me or something, but when it comes to food lets just say I wouldn't feed then by hand
even though I have before. How you treat your frog and respond to it reflects how they will respond to you. Remember that
Now Sanguine is my first Ornate, but I could immediately see the difference in how they move and their attitude. They also flatten themselves out when they feel threatened or are just grumpy. I believe Jessica of Ivory Reptiles described them as giant pancakes of doom Lol!! Very fitting. Their bone structure is completely different in shape compared to Cranwells. They also have a more striking pattern on their back and usually have short snouts.
I hope this helped a little. Mike can describe how he gets such good colors with his breeding and maybe give some details that I may have forgotten![]()
