Post Need Leopard frog Enclosure Ideas!

Hello I'm thinking about getting a leopard frog and next week Thursday me and my dad will be going to get a screen top for our ten gallon tank and some of the supplies but I need some ideas on how to setup a ten gallon tank for the leopard frog because so far I'm out of ideas and I only found one video on youtube about the leopard frog tank. So if you could please post some pictures of some of your enclosures. Please only post pics of long tanks because right now I only have a ten gallon for the leopard frog. Thanks Also they could be whatever gallons. I just want some ideas.

The tank needs to be half water half land, contrary to popular belief because leopard frogs are not fully aquatic and require good land area. this is a website on leopard frog care, and if you scroll down you can see pictures of enclosures. ok thanks for the link i'll put it to good use. Anybody else have websites or pictures of their leopard frog enclosures. I could use all the ideas because I have nothing except for the basic Idea of the half land and half water tank thanks to Charlotte.

You will need a larger tank if you are putting a leapord frog in it. A 10 gal will be fine for a froglet but he will not be happy as an adult in such a small home. He needs room to jump freely and swim, too; I recommend at least a 20 gal long tank but the larger the better. I have 55 gal set up for two leopard frog, right now they are still tadpoels and can't even leave the water, but once they do they will be free to go and do what ever. I also have an underground cave buried in the soil with a tunnel opening near the back of the tank (since the soil is deep, about 7 inches deep, due to the pond at the adjacent end of the tank) so they can completely hide from view if they want to. Since you are looking for recommendations this is my suggestion; set up a bigger tank and section it off for a pond at one end. Line the bottom of the pond area with gravel or sand and plant so water plants in it (the plants will help clean the water, too) and make the gravel level deeper in some spots to have varying water depths. Make the shallow end near the land so he can sit on the bank like he would in the wild. On the dry side add some house plants, real or fake does not make a difference (though real is my preference), Add some curved logs for him to walk up and hide behind or a hallow log for him to hide in. Think of what you would see in nature; set up his environment like something you would find in a wooded area near a stream or pond and you will have a happy leopard frog for life so long as his tank is not too small. Good Luck! : )

Thanks. Well even if it is 2 years old, if he still has him in that 10 gal and sees the post maybe he will move him to a bigger home.

usually looking at Fire belly toad setups would spark an idea in my mind for a tank designed for rana species. Half and half like Charlotte stated and like said earlier, a ten gallon is too small, 15 are harder to find so 20 would be your best bet if you need to get another tank.

Lol, yes Bill, I agree. I, too, hope he is not still in a 10 gal but even that is better than the joke for of a tank they are selling with the "Grow-A-Frog" kits on NatureGifs.net or Uncle Miltons.com, those are simply horrible excuses for a terrarium! My little tree frogs don't even like being in a critter keeper while I clean their home. That's why I ordered my Tads from NaturesGifts.net. After reading their page and seeing how small the habitat is that they are selling with the poor frogs I had to save a pair from a life in pure misery, after they grow up they would not even have room to turn around or scratch themselves with out hitting the wall... Speaking of which, my babies should be here any day now! I am super excited to get them into their new home and watch them grow into beautiful Leopard Frogs. It will be my first tadpole experience - fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly. I wanted to do the same with my Cope's Greys but I could not find any Greys tadpoles for sale ANYWHERE and there are so many types of frogs in my area that it would have been virtually impossible to tell which ones I had caught from the ponds and streams near me. This way I am for sure getting what I want and not a mystery frog, lol.
