Ol guys an gals,
This one threw me for a loop.. Maybe someone else can tell me of you have ever seen this... So I'm getting ready for bed an my male red eyes have been chirping away like crazy lately because we have been having some crazy hot muggy an slightly rainy weather. Go figure for Cali but hay anyways as I'm laying in bed I hear this odd wimper coming from there tank. I have never Hurd this sound befor an it went on for a lil while so of course I checked it out. On top of my oldest red eye verde a beautiful full grown female was one of my younger males who must b like teen age boys hitting puberty because as I looked closer she was trying to soak an he was clutched on to her so tight an she was in this hunched position like she was shedding trying to kick him off an she even flipped on her back making this wimper. I don't want either of them to get hurt. Has anyone seen this happen befor at all? I was a bit shocked. I am prepared to separate them just incase but I wanted to get some feed back on this. Thanks![]()
The male was triggered to breed due to the weather changes and the female wasn't ready (since they need a longer and stronger seasonal change in order to produce the eggs). So she tried to throw him off while he tried to hold on. It looks a little brutal, but it's fine. It happens from time to time if the weather is going crazy.
Thank u Martin
Was probably over concerned I'll admit. Lol but better to b overly concerned then not at all. Do u think I should separate them so it does not cause her any added stress just for the time being?
Thanx again
Ashley
I think moving her would cause a lot more stress than a temporary clingy male.
Better to be overconcerend than under![]()
You are prolly right. I do really just want to leave them alone. She seems to b resting fine with him on her back on the glass today. Slightly worried about her not eating because he is on her like white on rice. So will see how it goes. Thank you for all ur input![]()
