You do not have to - but if you want the moss to root quicker - the closer the item you want covered in moss the quicker the moss can root to it. It will also have a more sculptured finish as the moss is tighter to the items you want covered

So, I've taken this completely apart and am adding some new features.

Wow... sure hope I can make something like that one day. Excellent budda head.... hope you'll post photos after the growth comes in between the cracks.

    Hey there,

Your tank looks great! Im not sure if its just the pictures or what, but your water looks kind of dirty. Do you have a filter in there to keep it clean?

if i were you i would redude your cage. even through its looks good, its not a good cage frogs whites. whites like plants and they love to clim. you need more plants wood. it looks like it would be hard for the whites to catch there food. so instead of making it look fancy i would re due the hole tank. Thats just me

I love the buddha head but it's the whole focus of the tank. You can do so much more but adding more substrate, adding a lot of rocks and wood and kind of hiding the buddha head on one side with lots of plants surrounding it. Make it look like an undiscovered ruin in the jungle. It's all about composition. Some people make the mistake of putting something spectacular smack dab in the middle and then adding equal amounts on each side. Wrong! Off center and everything in odd amounts, 3,5,7..... build hills and valleys with the substrate. This is just my way of doing things but it's really all about what you like.
