Exo Terra Jungle Vine

What does everyone think about using the Exo Terra Jungle vine for tree frogs? I would really like something branch like for my frogs to climb on but this seems very rough to me. Is it safe for them?

Im sure that the vine should be fine for them. Most tree frogs are hardy especially if your getting whites tree frogs.

I agree with you , it is ruff. I would not put something this texture in w/ my red eyed tree frogs.

Be sure no wires begin to come through.
If your frog has the habit of jumping in a clumsily way that could result in him rubbing against it , then go with your gut.


If you get a large pothos from ( ie home depot) , rinse all the soil off the roots ,
re-pot it in tropical soil, let the bad stuff grow out for about 2 weeks.
THEN - the long vines can be used-- they can even be doubled and sort-ot twisted to create a sturdy place for a heavier tree frog.

They're great and perfect for tree frogs (like red eyes). I'm having a really hard time believing that they are rough enough to hurt a red eye. I've used them a lot, and they're simple awesome (but a bit expensive). Not just to create more climbing space, but also to create support for your plants and make them grow to places where they otherwise couldn't (due to lack of support).

My whites seems to like smoother textured vines on his feet and skin and wont use it at all.

In my opinion i would go with a Pothos like lynn said. They are much cheaper, much smoother, easy to take care of, need barely any light, and the frogs seem to love them. Mine have a choice of fake or live plants and they always choose the live ones over the fake. But just like lynn said make sure you rinse off all the dirt from the roots and rinse the leaves. If you happen to find one with long enough vines, they have suction cups at the dollar store. Like 8 of them for $1. then you can get some some vines higher up for your frogs.

Just would like to emphasize again that you don't need to pick between jungle vines or live plants. It's perfectly doable to use both, and in my experince, it's a great success to do so.
