I have 2 tiger salamanders, one of which has recently developed some odd black spots on top of her skin.
I immediately quarantined her and since then, the spots have changed quite a bit. It started off with 2 on her side, then 3 more smaller ones appeared also on the side. They all disappeared and then one appeared on her tail. That is now shrinking and I'm hoping when it's gone that it's all over, but I just wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar with tiger sals or any other terrestrial amphibs?
They're definitely external, on the outside of the skin, and can almost be rubbed off but then reappear until they seem to decide to go on their own. They're only small, about 2-3mm diameter at the largest.
Before I noticed them she had been burrowed for about 20 days, so I did wonder whether maybe she had just become a bit 'stagnant' in the same place underground for so long. She's fine and healthy otherwise, and the other salamander is perfectly fine. Anyone have any theories or previous experience as to what it could be?
Its normal
