getting ADF's to eat

I recently got 3 ADF's. I put a small plate in the tank and put their food on that but they haven't gone near it. Today I even tried grabbing one and putting him on the plate...but he just freaked out and swam away. I've read that a lot of people use this method and put the food there every time but how do you get the frogs to go to the food? I read they will smell it and go there but so far they don't seem interested at all. I've only had them for two days but as far as I know they've eaten nothing since they were added to my tank and I'm not sure how long they can go without food.

I'd take the food to the frog not the frog to the food. Use a turkey baster to shoot the food at the frogs gently.. just make sure it's a new turkey baster and not one that's had soap used on it as that would be toxic. I know african clawed frogs can go a while without food so I assume african dwarf frogs also do not need to eat every day.. I would give them a few days to get used to their new surroundings they'll eat eventually. Don't keep wasting food since it may cause water problems.. remove any uneaten food.

Thanks. I did remove the food. That's why the plate idea was appealing I guess. I tried putting just a few pieces down where two of them were hanging out with a long straw. But i tapped the straw a little and that scared them away. One was basically on top of two of the pellets but didn't go for them so maybe they are just not hungry yet. One keeps coming to the front and staring at me so I though maybe they were ready...might try getting some frozen bloodworms too but I know those are supposed to be more of a treat then a normal food.

Also what are you feeding them? You may want to try frozen food like mysis shrimp or bloodworm to try to coax them into eating. Pellets are not the most appetizing food for these guys but they eventually eat them. Could try to rile them up a bit with frozen food, it would get them in the mood to start eating just don't over do it.

I use tweezers with mine, otherwise it won't eat! also, my fish would eat the frog's food if i would feed it personally :P

African Dwarf Frogs are notoriously slow eaters and usually wind up starving to death in a community tank since fish are more aggressive eaters.. they're best kept alone.

That's exactly why i feed it with tweezers- to make sure it eats!
