    Default Toadlet! What kind?

    I found a toad! n____n He's adorable.

I'd like some help figuring out what he is, I assume just an American Toad, and if he looks ok. I live in central Pennsylvania.

Also attaching a picture of what he's in.

I got a flightless fruit fly culture and he gobbles them right up. How many should I be feeding a day? Any info on the cultures from Petsmart? They're supposed to last for 5 weeks or something but I don't know how long it takes for them to breed and grow.

I just sort of have him sitting in the house, it stay pretty warm but not as warm as outside.

Probably just an American Toad. You really won't know until he is older. That was the smart thing to do, buy a culture, since baby toads are so small. I say once he reaches about an inch start him on some pin head crickets dusted with vitamin powder.

Well, you can't really count fruit flies, but I recommend feeding him everyday and giving him as much as he wants to eat. Until he is full grown, don't worry about keeping him thin, just think about how much a growing toad will eat! Adult toads, of really any kind, will require a ten gallon set-up, and I recommend some hollow logs cut in half (found at petsmart) because they like to burrow and hide in things. Otherwise, you seem to be doing everything right, Timothy looks very happy and healthy!

    he died :c

    why

he was just fine a few hours ago, sucking up flies like crazy, but he was just dead in his water dish. Could he have drowned? Cant little toads swim? Did I feed him too much? I'm so sad :c

Stressed would be my guess. If the water was too deep, yes he could have gotten tired and drowned. Did you make sure to used de-chlorinated or spring water in his water dish? Little guys like that are hard to raise!!!

He was eating fine and made himself a little burrow and everything :c

I put a leaf in the water dish so he could drawl back out, it was less than an inch deep. It was dechlorinated :C
