I just recently became a pacman frog owner, and after my mother met it she loved it so much she bought herself one. After arriving at her house today to meet it (she's had it for 5 days) I noticed something clear hanging out his bum. I did something irresponsible considering my knowledge of reptiles (we all have brain farts now and then) and assumed it was poop and went to pull it off. This resulted in me making the apparent prolapse quite large. In good news a mix of sugar soak for 2 hours and gentle massaging with a qtip and everything is all better and I have learned my lesson. I am only posting this here to ask if there is anything I should watch for or is everything should be ok from this event. There was no bleeding or anything that looked concerning but if there is anything I should watch for over the next few days please let me know.
Again, I know what I did was stupid and irresponsible but I made sure everything was ok in the end and was prepared to pay the ridiculous vet fee if the sugar water soak didn't work.
I'm not quite sure what happened. Was it skin that you pulled off. Sugar water? I've never hear such a thing. Where did you rear/read that?
Frogsanity apparently her mother's frog had a prolapse which is when something that is hard for the frog to pass through their intestines causes the lower intestine to distend from the cloaka. Sugar water or a honey/water solution reduces swelling and allows you to gently place the prolapse back in.
Now for Sarahanita. Do not feed the frog for atleast 3 to four days and I do recommend taking it to a vet to be sure that no damage was done. A prolapse is not a minor issue although treating one to put it back in may seem like an easy fix. Their can still be a problem that now you can not see and infection is very possible. I would take the frog for a checkup and explain what happened. Never pull on anything like that coming out of the frogs vent. Let this be a lesson.
Keep us posted.
I checked on her today and a int bit has come out againmore sugar soaks and hopefully it goes back in again
The sugar water worked again after like 30mins. It was very small this time. I'm just upset it came back out

When you do feed the frog. make it earthworm/nightcrawlers for a while.....these are easier digested and will be kinder on the way out. Good thing you have the background in reptile knowledge to have the sense to attempt to replace the prolapse. Keep us posted on the forg's health!
Due to the available feeders in the area my mother is feeding her with Butterworms
