Need Enclosure Setup Help!

Hello I have 3 american toads and 1 Bullfrog and 1 Northern Green Frog and I need help setting up an Enclosure for them. Right now I have them in a plastic container outside with holes poked into the lid because my parents don't want them in the house. Here's some pictures I know it's a small container and I am saving up my money to get a bigger one for them. But is their anything plants or cheap decorative items I could put in the container for now. Also I don't know the gallons of this container but it has to be like a 10 to 20 gallon. Also I tried to make a half land half water with wood but I think it just soaked through. Is their any cheap land dividers too. If you have any ideas then please post them it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well, you really shouldn't keep different species of frogs together. The toads, northern green frog, and bullfrog need to be in different set ups. What they are in now does not look like a good set up at all. You really need to clean that water bowl.

The bullfrog will require a 100 gallon enclosure, half water and half land. The water needs to be 12 inches deep, with a slope made up of rocks to alow easy access to the land. Bullfrogs get really large, hence the need for a 100 gallon set up. I would not recommend keeping him. They do best near ponds or rivers, not in captivity. If you decided to keep him, you will have to invest in a large filter for the water part. There are tank dividers available at local petstores.

The toads will require at least a 20 gallon set up, relatively dry area. They don't need that much green foliage, so you should try to mimic a forest floor, with dry leaves, a 4 inch thick substrate ( coco fiber is a great substrate ). They need lots of hiding spaces, so get a couple of hollow logs cut in half (also available at petsmart).

And the northern green frog (a.k.a. leopard frog) will require a 10 gallon set up, also half land half water. You will need a filter for this tank also, and the water level only needs to be 6 inches deep. The land part of the enclosure for this frog needs to be similar to the toad land set up.

Each of these frogs will require their own enclosure because frogs have different toxicity levels, and since they will be sharing a common water source one species could suffer from the toxic nature of the others skin. You mentioned your parents not wanting them in the house... the frogs need to be in the house.

Ok thanks I really want to keep the frogs especially the bullfrog because he is eating and is healthy. So is there any cheap places to get a 100 gallon tank? I live in Michigan. I also want to keep at least 2 toads. How big of a tank do I need for just 2 toads? Also for the bullfrog could I use dirt for the land part then put a little bit of fish gravel leading into the water for the half land half water or do I need a land divider? Also what kind of filter do I need? We also did have a hermit crab once would I need to use like the sponge or the tropical moss for the bullfrog or green frog? I also have a 10 gallon tank but I have to try to get my parents to let me use it. I'll also see if I can get them to let me put them in the basement or will that be to cold for them? Sorry if this is to many ques. I'm new to keeping frogs. I did keep toads once though. My parents think that frogs are smelly is there anyway to get them not to smell or are my parents just crazy? Like if you use the substrate from the petstore does that help keep the smell down then just using regular dirt.Also would the smell stayed down if I cleaned it every week? I also hope that we have a garage sale here soon so I can get my frogs to be happy and afford all their supplies.

100 gallon aquariums aren't really cheap... thats one of the reasons I recommend letting him go. The aquarium, plus the filter, plus the 12 inches of substrate, the gravel in the water, the land decorations, it would be totaling a little over $1000. I strongly recommend letting him go. The frog terrarium shouldn't be smelly.... that's a sign of bacteria growth. You are keeping way too many frogs in that small an area. You need to really clean it, change the substrate, change the water bowl. For 2 toads, you would need a 15 gallon. The basement would be too cold for them... you would have to get special lights and substrate heating mats.

ok well I talked to my dad while on our way to the pet store to buy crickets and he said if I paid for everything then he might let me bring them in the house but I have no choice but to put them in the basement. So if I do end up getting enough money from our garage sale (if we have one) to buy a 100 gallon tank and all the supplies how hot would the tank need to be set at? I think we still do have a heating mat from when we had a hermit crab would that work for the heating mat? And if I cant get a 100 gallon tank and I get a 12x12x18 terrarium or a 17.1"x10.8"x13.3" or a 18x12x20 what beginner frog would fit in those terrariums because I just went online and petsmart and petco had those sizes cheap for like under $100.

A pretty bad condition 100 gal will run about 200 and it probly wont hold water. A 12x12x18 is only 10 gallons. If you dont have that much space return him because a 100gal will be 5 or 6 feet long.

Ok well right now i'm thinking about getting a different frog now and letting them go because I probably wont be able to afford 100 gallon. I have a couple different frogs in mind that petco said were beginner frogs. I have the american grey tree frog,white's tree frog, and the African bouncing toad. I still need to see how much they cost though because petco does not have the prices online. I also need to know how big a enclosure the frogs will need. Also thanks for helping me out. I really want to try to take care of a frog the right way. I only got to take care of the american toad and this will be my first time taking care of a frog.
