What will happen if a fire belly toad's poison gets on a human? The only way my dad will let me get a Fire Belly Toad is if it is not extremely dangerous. I know that wearing latex gloves can prevent it but I want to know what the poison can do to a human being. Any help would be great! I need to ASAP!
Most likely irritation generally. Rashes/Allergic reactions/illness probably, but it depends on the species and the level of toxicity. The most you might ever feel is a slight irritation, but can be bad if you don't know what you're doing.
It's recommened, for any animal in general, especially if they secrete poisons, that you never touch any open oriface[mouth/eyes/etc] or places where the toxins can get into your body. As soon as you've finished handling the animal, you should thoroughly wash your hands.
But in the end, I don't think these frogs are overly dangerous to humans. So long as you don't handle them often, which can be said for most Anura[Frog/Toad] species and you remember to wash your hands well, I don't think anything remotely lethal will come of it.
They are lethal to other frogs though, so keep that in mind.
