    Default Labas, hello!

Labas! Call me Finny, or Finnian, or whatever. I own seven fire-bellied toads -- six of Bombina orientalis, one of Bombina bombina, which live well together in a 55-gallon aquarium that has a 225-gph filter. They are my first frogs, though I have had experience with turtles and lizards (so do correct me if I get something wrong). I've had them for almost a year now, love them so far and have had very few problems. Due to having the move the tank a short distance across town, I removed everything -- the gravel, the plants, etc -- and decided to change things up. So I'll be on the forums asking about plants, moss and fish, and perhaps a better way to disguise my filter as a result of my "fresh start". The frogs are doing very well and I think it's ready to at least start thinking about additions of flora and fish and such.

    Thanks for the welcome

Yes, you are absolutely correct in that mixing most amphibians (such as firebelly newts with firebelly toads) it is a very dangerous combination. However, from what I know, European firebellied toads and Oriental firebellied toads are very similar in their toxins, and really, they are just as harmful to each other as they are to themselves. They do not have immunities to their own toxins; it's purely whether they are in contact of a dangerous amount of it. I have a high-power filter and do regular water changes that prevents any harmful substances from building up. If that information is incorrect, do say so, but I'm fairly certain that it's a safe "combination". Thank you, though
