Hi, I would like to know how many fire bellied toads you can put in a 10 gallon tank.
Thanks!
The thing is, there's so many sites and information, and each one says you can keep a different number of them,
Im a bit confused
I have 3 in a 10 gallon. They seem happy but I can tell that if there was one more it would be crowded with my current set-up which is pretty open but leaves enough places for each one to hide. Feel free to look at my enclosure in my album and see what I mean
I would say two for ten gallons, three is a little crowded if you ask me. Of course, I'm the person who spoils her seven toads in a 55 gallon.
The general rule for frogs/toads is one per 10 gallons. Two would likely be okay if kept very clean.

Thnx!
Also, Im a bit scared in creating the wrong terrarium for them.
I was looking at a completely aquatic setup with some isles and live plants, but I heard that way is not good.
So, Im not sure If creating a 1/3 land rest water would be good.
Ill accept your comments happily.
1/3rd land is a good set up. An all-aquatic set up would not be good for the toads; they need spots to rest and land area to feed.
How do I make that thought?
Wont the earth on the land go in the water?
In the land, rocks or earth?
Tell me all you can about creating the 1/3 setup.
The land area, should it be rocks or earth.
Sorry for being a pest.
Take a look at my set up in my album. It seems to work really well. Once in a while one of my little gys will get a piece of moss in their mouth while eating but will pull it out on their own. I'll soon be trying some live plants in hopes to replace my fake ones and possibly be getting rid of the bridge since they don't use it much. I do want to add some sort of other level for them to explore as well.
Thnx!
I will post some pictures to get your opinion.
One question.
Could I feed the fbt wild insects I find in my pesticide free garden?
I would highly recomend buying the live food from the store because you probably can't find meal worms or phoenix worm's in your garden..well maybe if you found crickets but that would be a lot of work anyway. At petco they sell a combo pack of meal worms and waxworks for $5.99 I think. The combo pack comes with the food for the worms. A lot of people say that meal worms are bad for fire belly toads because of their head but if you crush it not to hard and not to soft then it will work just fine. If you have any more questions then let me know.![]()
