My female grey tree frog that I got just the other day has a pregnantcy problem! I found her pregnant without a 'partner' under a tarp by a pool. I brought her to my house and put her in with one of my male grey tree frogs. I am aware that the eggs must be fertilized to be able to live and become frogs. If she is pregnant and without a partner, will my male grey tree frog fertilize them or are they going to die?
Its very sad seeing that these eggs may never become anything... Please HELP ME! D:

Well two things come to mind...1) are you sure that no males had already come by and fertilized them? 2) I dont see why your male wouldn't, is he interested in her? Unfortunately there is not a whole lot you can do you gotta let nature take its course even if its hard. I wish you the best of luck
Thank you and yes my 1 male frog is interested but hasn't made a move and I didnt know that they could've already been fertilized, i thought that when they were out of the female that that's when they get fertilized!? :P
If this possible outcome makes you sad why on earth would you remove a gravid female from the wild during breeding season? If it's only been a few days and there's no chance she came in contact with any foreign frog diseases, you can still put her back and let nature take its course.
Did you read the care sheet I linked to before? Are you ready and able to handle around 2000 eggs should you manage to get them to breed?
This is impossible as fertilization in Gray treefrogs (and nearly all other frogs) is external.
Well sorry I was under the impression that you collected her, with eggs, not before she laid them. So then were back to hoping that when she lays he'll know what and when to do it. The other option is what Brian said you can put her back. Was your male "W.C." ? Do you know how old he is?
i wouldnt take a frog from outside and put it in with a frog who i already know is healthy. you should quarantine your frogs before introducing them together. i would of let the female stay outside until she laid her eggs. not sure about this breed of frog but my tree frogs will only mate with a rain chamber or in some cases very heavy misting. have you provided this for your frog to mate if needed?
Yes i mist them
i also mist my frogs. misting wont make them mate. by heavy misting i mean HEAVY misting. like rain.
Ok and she layed her eggs!so excited
