Containing crickets

Using quart Mason jars seemed to be the perfect answer to contain my feeder crickets. I punched holes in the lid, inserted a piece of plastic screen and an empty toilet paper roll. I thought I was pretty smart until I discovered the bigger crickets can eat through plastic screen. It's also kinda hard to just get 3-4 crickets out and shaken into the tank. I ended up with lots of big crickets in the Dumpy tank and they were GROWING. That was somewhat fun, catching crickets hiding in the spaghum moss. I ended up cleaning out the whole tank and redecorating it with live plants. Anybody want a ceramic palm tree with plastic branches for Christmas?

No, thank you. I learned the hard way, a long time ago that crickets can chew through nylon screen mesh.

One day I noticed a bunch crickets running around the living room floor and wondered how they got there. That's when I noticed cricket-sized holes in the mesh. Since then I have only used aluminium mesh. They can't chew through it.
