How often should you try to breed a pair of Cornutas? First attempt was in May (failed)? Should I wait a whole season or try again in a couple of months?
Okay, what exactly do you mean by "It failed"? Were there eggs ejected? Were there no eggs produced? Did the male call?
Answer these questions and I will do my best to help. Pictures of your pair would help also.
No eggs, the male was attached (amplexus) for approx 4-5 days and then he released. Ever since then they've eaten regularly.
We cycle the females......place them in with the male(s) for 3 - 4 days, no action, remove both and feed well for 3 days, throw them back in. The female seems to require stimulation to produce eggs. The calling and amplexus does the trick, but sometimes takes a while. Just keep trying, making sure to keep both parties well fed!
Are they CB Cornutas or WC? If they are WC they have already produced or obsorbed the eggs for the year. CBB Adults "F1" frogs so, far have never produced in captivity. Most of the big breeders use only WC frogs to produce.
Yea if you got wild caught they have breed or absored the eggs just like milkfrogs said
