Default Xanthic vs Lutino morph Red Eye Tree Frog? What do I have?

Hi. I have been wanting one of these guys forever and could never find one. I bought this little guy tonight. The owner said he was Xanthic. Are Lutino Morph and Xanthic the same thing? They look the same. Also, is this morph recessive or Co-dominant? Please help if you can

    Thanks

    Tom

He looks to be a regular Albino. The Xanthic have the white eyes with a black pupil and are a pale yellow. You can see pictures of both of them in my photo album. You actually have the better frog as far as looks go. The yellow is more vibrant and the eyes are more striking.

Thanks. I like your setups too btw. Are there any good resources for the different retf morphs? also, is there a difference between the Lutino morph and the xanthic? I have always loved this species and just discovered this year that there were morphs. so I am super excited on exploring this project. I thought Albino's will still develop red eyes and xanthic and lutinos did not. So if he/she is Albino then it is recessive and i have to find another albino or breed it back to the hets when I get eggs from it. also, I bought the albono with a normal retf. the normal looks much different than my normal. The new ones blues are a deeper cobolt color and his belly has an orange tint. mine has a light blue and has a pure white belly. are they from different locales? I will post pics later today. man I have a lot to learn, but very excited.

    Thanks

    Tom

The true expert on the different morphs and the genetics behind them is Mike Novey. You can check out his website at Rainforest Junky's - Home

He is an extremely nice guy. Give him a call ...he can talk your ear off on how to breed the different morphs.

You're awesome thanks! Great information. I will definitely call him. Your Albino is beautiful. very creamy looking. I have never liked the Albino morph in any other animal except the retf's. I think it suits them well. Thanks again for the help. I will post more pics of the other normal once I get some projects done around the house. I will also follow up about the retf morphs once I speak with Mike Novey.

I am not sure about the difference between the lutino and the Albino. I will hopefully get an answer when I speak to Mike Novey. That Albino you have is awesome! I see you have a pair of Albino retf's. have you had a chance to breed them? Maybe not, since you haven't had them a year yet. I will post more information after I speak with Mike. I am hoping to clear up the morph questions and learn about the genetic makeup and combo potentials.

Are the Black eyed tree frogs a morph of the retf's? I thought I read that somewhere.

Woah, both types looks really good but the black-eyed on the top is extrordinary beautiful! Very nice frogs I must say.

I wish there were albino/xanthic mossy frogs. Now that would be something special!

Tom, your frog is gorgeous! May I ask where you purchased yours? Wow, that sure makes me want my albinos now. I am trying to wait until my toad tadpoles are old enough to set free (rescued), but he is just beautiful . Congrats!

Thank you..I got him from Craigslist of all places. When I saw someone was selling him, I jumped on it. I actually got him and another normal retf for $80. I didn't even bother to ask for a discount. They are so hard to find. He has tons of personality and very active and not shy at all. He wakes up early when the sun is still up and tears up crickets and calls while you're looking right at him.
