I need help I have a 65 gallon tall hexagon tank that I turned into a vivarium with all live plants a water fall and a river like pound. The tank has plenty of hiding and climbing places and wide leafed plants for them to sleep on. I have a fogger that turns on every hour for about 5 minutes.

I got 4 red eyed tree frogs for my birthday on the 27th of may. Since then Ive had no problems with them they were active at night and slept all day. Seems like eveyone is hunting for crikets. Colors are nice and bright during the day and dark at night. I rarely handle them if at all. I like to just watch.

Heres my issue 3 days ago I noticed one of my frogs had some red marks on his face and around one of his eyes. Almost like what a black eye would look like but it was all red and looked kinda of swollen. On thursday I came home from work and found him dead. This morning I just looked in my tank and I have another frog with a swollen eye thats red. I dont know what could be going on.

Can someone please help I dont want to see anymore dead. I have another large terrarium that has fake plants I might move everyone too till I figure out whats going on.

    Please help

    Thanks

I just woke up the frog with the swollen eye and it looks like he punchured that eye or damaged it some how. He can not open that eye and it looks very swollen at the eye not the surrounding area. Almost like he lost damaged the eye.

Can you provide some pictures of the tank and the frog so we can get an idea of what is going on? Also what type of lighting are you using and what are the temps and humidity at?

I wouldn't use a fogger, some require distilled water, which is harmful to frogs. I would also put them in hospital tanks. Something might be spreading. If you can take them to a vet to be checked out I would.

I had no idea that distilled water was bad for them my fogger and my water feature is all distilled water, thats what was recommended to me. I knew the fogger required it but didnt know it could be harmfull..

That was what I was told by my Vet. She has been treating frogs for over 15 years. She says the distilled water builds mineral deposits in the fogger, which in turn gets transferred to frogs. She recommended good ole misting yourself. From the pictures though, I would take them to the vet. They might be able to help the little guys

Id like to thank you blueisallIneed for your advice, unfortunately i found my frog dead today when I made it home from work. I have no idea what could have happened. I had seperated him/her into a hospital tank and woke up last night to try and give him a cricket by hand incase he was to weak to catch them.

    Thanks again for the help
