Red face Frog calls at night

    It's summertime!

How do I know this? My darling New Mexico Spadefoot, Melix, who is my profile picture, has started singing at night. Most people find it annoying, but to me it's always endearing and brings a big smile to my face when he calls for a mate. I've had him going on two years, and every summer (like clockwork) he starts croaking at night.

Anybody else enjoying summertime with their frog songs?

Bet you break out with a smile (and don't even realize it) while your sleeping when he begins to call.

Actually I do. His mate Obdulia always seems to be enticed by the croaking and joins him in the water dish. <3

Yep . My two male red eyes and my male fantasy all croak in the later evening. Bruiser (fantasy) croaks real early in the morning too .

I hear ya. I have a little male Grey Tree Frog who lives alone and he occasionally calls for a female. Being in CA, it's been difficult to find him a mate.
