Why don't crickets climb out of glass bowls?

The crickets cant climb the slick sides of the glass. They only jump when they're trying to get away from something otherwise they walk around and they cant walk out of the dish. They are too stupid to figure out they could jump out. It takes the frogs a little while to figure out to use it but they will pick up on it. You'll lose less crickets this way and they wont foul the tank.

Funny thing is, you can have an emptied bowl there and the crickets find it and fall back in :-)

Like the other posters noted, the sides are too slippery, so the crickets can't get enough of a grip to climb out. Too short of a dish, and they'll be able to jump out, but they won't be able to climb out.

glossy plastic is hard for them to climb on as well. be carefull when putting babies in a terrarium because they can climb on the corner seal. Thats how mine were escaping.

you know I have heard of this working but never tried it. what size of glass bowl would everybody suggest i use for larger Tree Frogs?
