I have a 42 gallon long tank that I would like to turn into an American Bullfrog enclosure. It was previously used for fish, and I wanted to grow live plants in it. I would like to do a half water, half land setup. Would it be ok to use the hood that I was using when I had fish in it? I could cover the areas where the filters would have been.
I don't want to add anything permanent to the tank in case I ever want to do fish in it again. What are some ways I can easily do half land, half water? I was thinking about having regular size aquarium gravel over the entire bottom so that I can still grow plants and to make it easier to clean. I would then make the slope and the land side with larger river rocks and cover it with moss. Does anyone have any pictures of their tanks they would like to share?
So, is it o.k. to use an aquarium hood for the top of the tank if it is low light?
I would also like to know more about feeding. There seems to be conflicting information online about how to feed one small bullfrog. Does this sound good? Feeding every other day, mostly crickets, with some waxworms and mealworms once in a while. (How many bugs would I feed in one day?) As he gets larger, then I can add fish and mice once in a while.
